1953 Elgin 5HP Outboard Motorn Beautiful Original Condition, Rare Find
Restored outboards look sharp but they lack the rarity and patina of an Original factory built motor. I am guessing but I would say it was used maybe 1 season, probably less than 10 hours. It shows more wear from storage than anything. All original paint and decals, spotless tank, has some scuffs on 1 side as shown in pictures and some paint loss on the lower that looks like improper paint prep at the factory. Getting paint to adhere to aluminum can be tricky! Anyway look over the photo's, it is a very sharp motor and will be a centerpiece in peoples Elgin Motor collections. I did not attempt to start the motor. It pulls over with good compression. The only defects I know of are cosmetic and can be seen in the photos. Local pickup and inspection is free at our business in Plainwell Michigan. This motor weighs 50 pounds. If we ship the motor it will be in a custom built wood crate at a cost of $50 for the crate plus the UPS shipping cost based on weight, dimensions and zip codes.
