This gearcase still had the factory part number bar code on it. It identifies this gearcase as 859399A13 1.75:1 GEAR HOUSING ASSEMBLY Complete (4.75 Inch/120.65 mm Torpedo Diameter) Gear case was well maintained and working perfectly when the power head failed. This is original factory paint.
Drained oil for testing, Oil was clean with no water or metal contamination but it did not pass pressure test. It looks like the water pump impeller failed, the engine overheated and locked up and a seal below the water pump came out of the housing. 2 new seals, a new impeller and gaskets fixed the issue with zero drop in both pressure and vacuum tests. All splines in excellent condition. Cavitation plate and skeg are both straight and in very good condition. Small scratches and paint loss but overall appearance is great.
